The blogging experience is about not only putting your thoughts on the web, but hearing back from and connecting with other like-minded folks.
Most people surfing the Internet are looking for information. In other words, most people are not actively seeking to buy a product and nearly everyone expects to get the information for free.
Speaking specifically about the market place of people who are “interested” in having an online home business and/or generating income from the web, most of these people want to find good information about the subject first.
Therefore, by becoming a provider of trustworthy information about online home businesses, legitimate work at home opportunities and ways to generate income online, positions you as the source for what people are actually looking for in the first place.
Then, when people find your information and get engaged in the articles, they will naturally find the links that point to your sales page and visit them. Now, they have already been pre-sold and have more trust in the link to your sales page because they have already benefited by reading the free information provided in the article on your blog!
Also, blogs are the most friendly Internet publishing tool in existence. This means that the pages of your blog can start being indexed by the search engines almost immediately and some of your blog content pages will start showing up in the free listings of the when people search for various keywords. Therefore, adding quality content to your blog on a regular basis can generate free to your website potentially forever.
Publishing a blog allows you to instantly create new content-rich web pages. These new pages can be linked to from the home page of your current website and/or promoted separately. By creating additional content-rich website pages and promoting them from your home page or through other means, you will be accomplishing two important things:
1) You will provide more value for your website visitors. This increases the “stickiness” of your website making people stick around longer and ultimately trust you more. On the Internet, trust translates to profits!
2) Search engines love fresh content created through blogs. By publishing your own blog and adding fresh content to it on a regular basis, you will attract the attention of the who will list your website in their directories for free. As soon as you have pages of your blog in the search engines, you will start attracting free qualified traffic to your site without paying a dime for it. Imagine running a large and comprehensive Google without paying anything for it. That is exactly what you can accomplish by publishing your own blog!
Anytime you have some news to share about your business, it is a great idea to use your autoresponder to let your subscribers know about it. You could even link your autoresponder to your blog, so that each time you post information on your blog your subscribers are notified by email. This type of active relationship building can make a huge impact on your business. The more you interact with your subscribers, the more they will trust you and want to do business with you!
With a blog, the publishing possibilities are only limited by your own imagination. The point to realize is that, as a blog publisher, you have just unlocked a huge window of opportunity for yourself!
With the phenomenal growth of the internet and the resultant dependency on the search engines, the (SEO) industry is booming. More and more web site owners are realising that they have to get better search engine ranks to compete and that an investment in pay-per-click advertising is a temporary solution - it’s fine if you make a profit but as soon as you stop spending on clicks, you disappear off the radar - your traffic disappears.
Blogs are one of the latest techniques being used to generate . A blog is the simplest way of publishing content on the web - you can get a blogging account free at, write your first entry and publish it to the web - there’s no need to know anything about html, ftp and all the arcane technology of the web - it’s that simple.
A blog can generate web site traffic in several ways but, as with any attempt to create a successful web presence, it’s the content that counts. There are unscrupulous, so called internet marketing professionals who advocate setting up blogs for every keyword that you wish to be found against, add a few paragraphs, sit back and watch the traffic roll in. Well yes, it might work for, let’s see, half a nano-second. But people aren’t stupid - they know when they’re being conned and isn’t there enough dross on the web without more of this kind of rubbish?
If you want to attract people to your web site, or ‘traffic’ to use the jargon, follow these blog guidelines.
1. Write plenty of useful, interesting content.
2. Make sure your blog can be found on the
3. Create links to your site and to other sites.
4. Update your blog as often as you can, provided that you’re able to write something useful.
5. Offer an RSS feed - Really Simple Syndication - that enables other web sites to publish your content. They will have to link back to you - backlinks improve your search ranks.
RSS is not quite a household word, but technically astute individuals are adopting the use of RSS feeds at an alarming rate. If you are interested in jumping on the bandwagon, but not quite sure of where to start, consider following these simple RSS feed tips to maximize feed compatibility and make your feed stand out from the crowd.

If you are interested in jumping on the bandwagon, but not quite sure of where to start, consider following these simple RSS feed tips to maximize feed compatibility and make your feed stand out from the crowd.
RSS DO’s
1. Titles and Descriptions.
Always include meaningful keywords in your RSS feed’s Channel title and description. Many readers will view or search for topic specific RSS feeds using keywords or keyword phrases. If you have descriptive keywords in your RSS feed’s title and description the feed is more likely to be located and subscribed to by interested parties.
2. GUID Format.
Always include a GUID with each feed item. The GUID is a globally unique identifier. Each post should use a different GUID. The GUID will in some cases assist RSS news readers and aggregation software in determining when new content has been added to the RSS feed or when existing content in an RSS feed has been modified. If you do not use GUID’s, the software used to aggregate the feeds may have difficulty detecting changes to feed items or the software may not always recognize new content.
3. Publish Dates.
Always include a publish date on feed items. The publish date should be used even if the content is timeless. The Publish Date will help readers determine that status of the content contained in the feed item.
4. Polish Your Feed.
Consider including images within your RSS feed. While the added images will not necessarily improve ranking, they will add a polished look to your RSS feed and help brand your feed.
5. Feed Hosting.
Either host your own feed, or set it up to forward to a third party from your website. This will allow you retain complete control over the RSS feed. You will not need to rely on the stability of another company. If you control the forwarding and at any point you are dissatisfied with the service provided by the third party, you can redirect the feed to another location.
RSS DON’Ts
1. Plagiarize.
Do not plagiarize content in your RSS feed, there is little more to be said. Written words are considered protected in most countries. Posting someone else’s work and taking credit for their words is wrong and will damage your reputation as a credible source.
2. Splog.
Do not create splogs by automating feed creation. Splogs just clutter the search engines and directories and make it difficult to locate RSS feeds with meaningful content.
3. Violate Copyrights.
Do not violate copyrights by republishing an RSS feeds contents. If you quote content from another RSS feed, credit the source and provide and link to the original source of the content. As a rule of thumb, editorial content should exceed the length of the quoted material in the post.
4. Violate TOS.
Do not republish RSS feeds without confirming that feed syndication is allowed. The terms of use are not always apparent, so it is important that you check the terms of service on the publisher’s feed subscription page prior to syndicating the contents of another publisher’s RSS feed.
5. Provide Multiple Feed Formats.
Do not provide multiple feed formats for the same content. As far as the subscriber is concerned, the version of RSS that you are using is irrelevant. Multiple versions of the same feed simply cause confusion. Almost all RSS readers and news aggregators support all versions of RSS, simply choose a version and provide a single feed.
By adopting good feed practices, you can reap the benefits of having an RSS feed. Following these simple RSS do’s and don’ts will get you started on the path to RSS success.
The best blogs and feeds are those that contain unique, fresh, compelling, content. So where do these prolific posters get their ideas? The best blogs and feeds are those that contain unique, fresh, compelling, content. So where do these prolific posters get their ideas? I talked to a handful of bloggers to determine where their inspiration originated for their content.
Not surprisingly, ideas for blog posts or RSS feed items originate or are influenced by other web content. The following are venues for finding your online muse:
1.Google News
Monitor Google News for keywords related to your industry. If you find a story you disagree with or wholeheartedly agree with write about it. Add your thoughts, and editorialize the content. This does not mean you should just repost Google news summaries. The value is not only in the news aggregation, but in the commentary that you provide. Tie news items to specific events, conditions, or the impact of specific news on the industry. Adding a view point or reference to a news article adds genuine value.
2. Web Logs
Look at your websites “long tail”, and examine your web logs. Find phrases that are relevant to your website and write in-depth information about those subjects. This is particularly helpful if the blog or RSS feed is used as a marketing tool for the website. By focusing on obscure or less popular search terms and phrases that are found in your web logs, you will not only find that you provide content of interest to your readers, but you will attract additional web traffic.
3. Collate
Many bloggers have established themselves as “experts” by simply amassing and organizing a large collection of information that relates to a specific field. Use the blog or feed to announce and organize information, new products or services in an unbiased way within a specific industry.
4. Search
Most people assume that there is information on every subject on the Internet, but that is not necessarily the case. If you stumble on an area where there is minimal content, consider it an opportunity. Continue developing content. Chances are if you were searching for the content someone else is as well, develop a blog post or RSS feed for information that find inaccessible.
5. Untouchable Content
Consider tackling all of the content that many other publishers find difficult or uncomfortable. Controversial or content that is difficult to write about is often overlooked, look at challenging content as an opportunity.
6. Monitor Authority Blogs
Watch authority blogs for developing industry news. Comment on any breaking news or editorials that you either agree or disagree with. This may attract the attention of an authority blog and could result in a link to your commentary. Be sure to credit the source of any blog posts that you comment on or quote.
7. Advice
If you are an expert? Consider developing an advice column. Let readers send you questions and post the questions and answers in your blog or RSS feed. This allows your readers to direct your content.
8. Conversations
Many bloggers and publishers discover topic ideas from conversations. Create dialogue with both individuals familiar and unfamiliar with your blog topic, the questions that come up could be good fodder for posts.
9. Forums/ Newsgroups / Usenet
Forums are great places to find topic ideas. Read topic specific forum posts then editorialize and summarize the posts.
10. Look Outside the Box
Do not constrain your thinking to parameters found online. The best RSS feeds and blogs are targeted, clear, consistent, and unique. It is okay to occasionally step outside your comfort zone to find appealing content.
While breaking news has obvious value, so to does timeless content and “how to” posts. Don’t be afraid to mix it up and provide readers a combination of the two.

Any business model can benefit from adding a web log to their domain.
There is certainly nothing new about the concept of blogging, and yet many business owners and Internet entrepreneurs don’t seem to grasp the power of this simple strategy. This is evidenced by the fact that many business websites do not include a blog.
If you run a business site, but do not currently have a blog, there is a great chance that you are leaving money on the table. Regardless of what kind of business you are in, a dynamic and interactive web log will improve customer response and add profits to your bottom line.
Consider this:
When you use a web log as the platform for your newsletter or ezine, you can post each of your promotions to the web, and then invite your subscribers to your blog to view your most recent update. When readers follow the link from your email to your latest blog post, they will not only have the opportunity to respond to the current promotion, they will be able to browse your blog and take action on offers you made last week, last month, even last year.
Quite often when I mail my list about my latest blog post, I end up making new sales on a promotion I did some time ago. And since my blog is linked to all of my other web sites, it’s easy for me to generate traffic for multiple products and services with just one mailing.
And blogging is a great way to generate new web traffic for your domain. By setting your blog software to ‘ping’ search and directory portals each time you make a post, you can alert a large number of people about your new content with the single click of a button.
Also, search engines are more likely to spider your site on a regular basis if you update your content frequently. With blog software, making changes to the text on your web pages is as simple as sending an email; you just fill in a subject line and post body, and then click ‘submit’.
You can even configure your blog so readers are able to leave comments and questions about your articles. They don’t have to take the time to send you an email, they can just click on the comments link and post their feedback right there on the spot. This is one of the easiest ways possible to encourage productive interaction among your prospects and customers.
Blogging requires no special technical knowledge. Sure there is an advanced side to this marketing strategy, but just adding a web log to your domain and making posts on a regular basis can improve your traffic flow and customer response tremendously.
Blogging has been used for some years as a platform for individuals to record chronological publication of comments and thoughts on the web. They usually include philosophical reflections, opinions on the Internet and social or political issues. This article explains how one could go beyond this to capitalise the strength of blogging to enhance one’s
Oxford Dictionary of Modern Slang states “blog noun An Internet website containing an eclectic and frequently updated assortment of items of interest to its author. 1999-. [Shortening of weblog.] So blogger, noun
More meaningful citations could be obtained from the Web. Below is a list of these.
-Â Blog is short for weblog. A weblog is a journal (or newsletter) that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. Blogs generally represent the personality of the author or the Web site.
-Â A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.” Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog.
-Â A blog is information that is instantly published to a Web site. Blog scripting allows someone to automatically post information to a Web site. The information first goes to a blogger Web site. Then the information is automatically inserted into a template tailored for your Web site.
Blogging has come a long way indeed. Not only can you do all the above mentioned, you could now also make full use of it to promote and expand your Internet business.
Savvy marketers have now accepted blogging as one of the best methods that is free because you could create your blog almost immediately at no cost compared to the setting up of a conventional website.
Publishing information in your blog to help establishing your presence in the Web is now a growing phenomenon. Blogging for your Internet business is one surefire way to enhance the visibility of your products and services.
The following are some of the things one could do to improve one’s Internet online business:-
1) Offer advice to your visitors on specific tips, tricks and opportunities related to your own business with the objective to increase awareness not only about yourself but also your business. This will establish you as an authority with customers, prospects and casual visitors through your publications.
2) Prompt and encourage readers to leave their comments and feedback. Positive feedback could some times help you to improve your , layout, content and hence your business.
3) Make periodical announcement and broadcasting on any new changes or offers available in your main websites, for instance, new products and/or services. 4) Old and past publications and postings in your blog could be kept in an Archive file which is very friendly for retrieving. You can therefore keep track of all your business plans and old but important information. 5) Any articles which you have written and posted could be reprinted by others for their own websites with your permission on condition that the resource box about the author remains unchanged i.e. with all your important URLs intact. This would link your websites to other websites hence exposing your business to more visitors.
6) Always add fresh and quality content to it on a regular basis since search engines like fresh content. As a result, search engines will list your website in their directories. As soon as you have pages of your blog in the, you’ll start attracting free traffic to your site without having to paying a dime for it.
7) Exchange links with others could improve your ranking on search engines. in the form of advertisement banners could also be included in your blog to earn more extra income.
In short, there is no limit to what you could do with your blog. You can include your ideas, opinions, expertise in your field of work, resumes, home recipes, pictures, or video clips, e-books, poetry, products, services, consultations etc., etc. Unlike most normal websites that are relatively permanent with only occasional updating, blogs allow you to post any new content almost on daily basis. Also, websites are usually less personal as far as their relationship with the visitors is concerned.
Visitors could leave comment in your blog after their visits which sometimes could prompt a follow-up discussion between you and them resulting with both parties learning from each another.
Share your ideas, opinions and thoughts to assert yourself as an authority in your field. The visitors who are your customers or potential customers would remember your blog and keep coming back.
The growing popularity of blogging means that everyone from individuals to huge corporations have created blogs and joined the “blogosphere” to promote their home business or corporation.
Over the last year, a lot of people found themselves asking the question, “What is a blog?” In fact, “blog” was the most searched for web definition in Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary that year because of all the interest this new Internet phenomenon was, and still is, attracting.
But what, exactly, IS a “blog,” and why has it taken the Internet by storm?
A “blog” (derived from the term “web log”) can be a stand-alone web site or form part of a larger web site. It’s made up of short, frequently updated posts written by the web site owner, or another appointed person. This person is known as a “blogger.”
Blogging started as a way to give regular people the opportunity to publish, or “post,” their thoughts and views online. It also enabled blog owners to have “conversations” with visitors to their blog by allowing those visitors to post their own “comments” or views on the topic of discussion.
Now blogging is HUGE! According to blog Technorati, there are nearly seven million blogs.
That’s up from just 100,000 two years ago! And new ones are appearing all the time — at a rate of over 20,000 a day according to Technorati.
And a search for the word “blog” in the Google search engine in February 2005 generated a massive 173,000,000 results!
The growing popularity of blogging means that everyone from individuals to huge corporations have created blogs and joined the “blogosphere.” Google has one at blogspacecom, and President Bill Gates has software readily available to each of his employees. In fact, he encourages blogging — on work time no less.
What’s particularly interesting to owners is the way in which blogs are fast developing into a very useful home business tool. If you add a “blog” to your web site, you could enjoy benefits such as…
* More traffic to your web site
* More repeat traffic to your web site
* Better customer relations
* More sales
… And all for minimal — often zero — financial outlay!
Really simple syndication (RSS) is a very simple, but efficient to notify readers that your site has new content to read. It also allows you to publish your information directly onto a page on another website. Learning about RSS is a must for any person who maintains his/her own website.
RSS is the newest, hottest technology on the Net. Whoa! Did you pull back just from hearing the word technology? Don’t be concerned about the “how does it work, but let’s concentrate on what it can do for you.
Let’s discuss Really Simple Syndication. What is syndication? In the off line world, it is associated with comic strips or a particular feature writer in the newspaper such as Ann Landers. The comic or article was developed and for a fee was syndicated to any newspaper that wanted to carry it. It would appear simultaneously in many newspapers across the country.
On the Net, most of the syndication does not cost anything. Most sites or companies that supply “feed for syndication do so for free because they are looking for the exposure from the information and advertising that is carried in the feed.
When you go to the home page on Yahoo, Google, or MSN, you will see news, weather, sports, etc. displayed on the page. This information is coming through a feed from other websites and will automatically update on the home page without the owner of that page having to do anything.
What do you need to read RSS? Simple answer …… You need an RSS reader. The easiest way to get one is to subscribe to “My Yahoo. Sign in on your “My Yahoo page and it contains an RSS reader for you to use. Go to www.yahoo.com and click on the “My Yahoo icon to sign on or to register.
When get your “My Yahoo account set up and log in under your user name, look in the top left of the window and click “Add Content. You will be presented a form to complete for feeds by subject. Don’t bother with this search box. To the right of the search box in small letters is “Add RSS by URL. Click that link and you will be presented another search page where you can set up the feed from a particular website. There are feeds from Retirement Jobs Online.com and Boomer-eZine if your want to experiment with setting up RSS in your Yahoo reader.
DO NOT CLICK THE FOLLOWING URL. Highlight it and right click on it. Select copy and then paste it into the search box on Yahoo. Then click the “Add box to the right of the search box. You now have added an RSS feed to your “My Yahoo page.
http://www.retirement-jobs-online.com/retirement-jobs-online.xml
OK you say. What is all the big fuss about RSS? Just stop and think about what this can do for you as a surfer on the Net. If you have particular sites that you check regularly for information, you have to spend time looking through the sites to see if new info has been posted.
If you set up an RSS feed from that site to your “My Yahoo or any other RSS reader that you choose (and there are hundreds of them) you do not waste time having to look for changes. You are notified when a change takes place by the RSS feed and you can click right to it. As we say in Texas, “That is slicker than cow slobber. I challenge you to find anything that is slicker than the slobber of a cow.
RSS is used extensively by bloggers to monitor blogs for new posts.
Now, on the flip side, if you have a website or a blog and you publish information, establishing a RSS feed will put your publication on the feeds on the Net so it can be picked up by additional people. These contacts will possibly become subscribers. This is a way to build additional traffic and it is free. Anyone who has a website or a blog or publishes a newsletter should establish an RSS feed for it.
RSS feeds are great tools for expanding your publishing options and I recommend that you set up a feed to help expand your .
I wish you the best in adding RSS to your website
Publishing an ezine just got easier with the invention of blogs. Now ezine publishers can easily post past issues of the ezine on a blog and do not have to maintain a website for that purpose.
Publishing an eZine without a website is certainly possible since you really only need to be able to send your newsletter to your readers using email. However, most publishers like to post the past issues of the newsletters and this is usually done on a website. Also, in text email you cannot embed and other revenue generating items. In the HTML format of the website you are able to do this to develop some potential for revenue.
Also, the website gives you a location where you can post a form for new subscribers to complete for entry into your database. Having a web site is definitely an advantage in publishing an eZine, but it is not absolutely necessary.
A new concept that has recently developed is to use a blog to post past issues of the newsletters so people can read them in HTML format.
Let’s discuss a blog and blogging. Blog is short for web log. It is an online journal or newsletter that is published by someone on the Internet for public reading.
The largest blog site on the Internet is www.blogger.com. This site started in 1999 and was purchased by Google in 2002. The site on the Internet that keeps statistics on the traffic for every site on the Internet is called www.alexa.com. www.blogger.com always ranked very high on Alexa since it is so popular and has so much traffic.
Traffic to your site is the major factor for the success or failure of your site. Your site’s position on Google or Yahoo for your key words will make or break you. Having your newsletter on Blogger helps since the Google spiders check the blogs quickly when new information is posted. This will give you much quicker exposure to the search engines than posting your newsletters to your own website.
Boomer eZine made a decision to continue to post copies of the newsletter on both the Boomer eZine web site and also on the Boomer eZine blog on http://boomer-ezine.blogspot.com.
There are some great advantages of using a blog for the archives of your eZine.
1. It is free.
2. You do not have to worry about setting up a website.
3. Publishing on a blog is very quick and easy.
4. You can include AdSense or on your blog to generate revenue.
5. Setting up AdSense ads on Blogger is much easier than setting them up on your own website.
6. Readers can leave comments about your issues and interact with you.
7. Search engines see your new content faster than on your own website.
Since AdSense is such an important part of this program, I recommend that you join it first and then set up your blog.
AdSense is a Google program that you set up on your web pages. It reads the content of the page and automatically places ads on the page that match the page’s theme or content. When a reader clicks on an AdSense ad on your page and makes a purchase, you receive a commission on the sale. All you have to do is allow the AdSense program on your pages and Google does the rest. It is an ingenious system and one that has revolutionized . If you are not already a member of AdSense, you can join it at https://www.google.com/adsense.
Once you have set up your account, go to www.blogger.com and follow the three easy steps on the page. Once you open an account, you will name your blog, and then choose a template. There are several templates to choose from which is the hardest part of the set up. Don’t get too concerned about the template since you can change it whenever you want to.
Now you can set up the blog for your eZine. (You can have multiple blogs in your account). However, I would recommend that you create a blog about your thoughts and experiences while you are planning your eZine launch and make daily entries in that blog. This will give you experience on how to maintain a blog. I think you will have fun doing it. Just remember that the world sees your information in the blog so don’t give away any confidential information about your new eZine.
Good luck with your newsletter and your blog.
